Hiring a Freelancer vs Claude, Set Up for You
On October 12, 2026 I went through 56 Fiverr gigs that promise an AI trained on your business. Prices ran from $30 to $20,000. The $500 to $3,000 gigs usually load your documents once. The ones that connect email, calls and drives on a schedule start around $4,000.

Hire a freelancer if
- One batch of documents that rarely changes is enough
- You've found someone you trust, with reviews from businesses like yours
- They can answer the six questions below
Have me set up Claude if
- Your knowledge changes every week, in email and on calls
- You want answers that show where they came from
- You want it in your accounts, with a guarantee
Side by Side
| Typical $500 to $3,000 gig | Claude Team, set up by me | |
|---|---|---|
| What's connected | One batch of documents, loaded once | One team's email, docs, calls, spreadsheets and calendar |
| New information | Often "send them to me" | Read live through connectors, so it stays current |
| Sources on answers | Rarely mentioned. One of 38 seller FAQs did | Answers cite the file or message they came from |
| Whose accounts | Varies. Ask | Yours |
| Work it does | Answers questions | Answers, then drafts proposals and follow-ups overnight |
| Price | $500 to $3,000 once | From $3,997 once. One job live by day 14 and your team using it weekly by day 30, or your money back |
| Trains on your data | Depends on the tools they pick. Ask | No. It runs on Claude Team, which doesn't by default |
| After launch | Ask before you buy. The gig price covers the build | A day-30 check on who's using it, then your team runs it, or Release care keeps it current for $997 a month |
The $3,997 setup pays for itself once your team gets back 80 hours. That's one workday each for 10 people, if an hour of their time is worth $50.
Where a Freelancer Wins
Some of the people selling these are good, and the cheap tiers are fine for the right job.
What hiring one does better
- If one batch of documents is enough, it costs far less.
- You can pick from hundreds of sellers and read their reviews.
- A website chatbot that answers your customers starts at $30. My setup doesn't do that.
Where my setup falls short
- It's Claude only. If your team won't give up ChatGPT or Copilot, you'd pay for both.
- It moves with Anthropic. When they change a feature, the setup has to change with it: your team does that, or I do on Release care.
- One person does it: me. You're betting on my calendar, which is why the guarantee comes with all your money back.
- It's priced for one team of up to 20. A bigger company, on Claude Team or Enterprise, gets scoped on a call, and needs someone in IT who owns permissions.
- It drafts and never sends. Someone still reads every proposal before it goes out.
- If someone on your team already lives in Claude and has the hours, coaching for $1,997 gets you most of the way.
The questions buyers asked most in those gigs' FAQs were what happens after delivery and whether their data stays private. Almost nobody asked to see sources. That's the one I'd ask first. Six questions to ask before you pay.
Why Me
Anyone can call themselves an AI expert now. I've put machine learning into production, published on it, and built the hard version of this by hand, on my own company.
What I've built and published

- Co-authored a 2024 IEEE paper on it with Dr. David Joyner
- Two IBM patents, on distributed computing with homomorphic encryption
- Master's in Computer Science from Georgia Tech
- Fractional CTO at CITYROW after its $12M Series A, through its acquisition by WaterRower
- 15+ years and 50+ production apps
What my own company runs on
- Nexrizen has run on Claude every working day since June 2026
- 3,474 commits on our own company brain, 86% of them co-written with Claude
- 1,295 emails and 727 call transcripts filed by client, and 626 owed replies caught
- 39 field notes on what worked and what broke, including eight times our tools lied
Questions About Hiring Someone
Isn't your setup the same thing, from a freelancer named Gabe?
What should I ask a freelancer before I pay?
They said they'll train the AI on our data. Is that good?
