Beat the Company Brain
Fernhill Creative is a made-up agency buried in its own files: 42 email threads, 7 calls, 12 docs, 3 spreadsheets and 10 calendar events. Find the answer yourself, then ask company_brain.exe.
- Dig through the files yourself. The clock starts on your first click.
- Hit Ask in company_brain.exe and compare your time.
- Have it do the work, like a proposal from this morning's Zoom call.
I've read every email, call, doc, spreadsheet and calendar event at Fernhill. Ask me anything about them.
This demo only knows the questions below. The real one reads your company's files and answers anything that's in them.
Draft a proposal for the person I just spoke with on Zoom
Reading 74 files
Done. Here's a proposal for Lena Ortiz at Harvest Co-op, from this morning's Zoom, in Fernhill's proposal format. Every section shows where it came from.
What we heard
Harvest Co-op runs 3 stores on a website from 2017, and members can't order online. You want online ordering for pickup, a site that looks current, and an editor simple enough for two non-technical people to post the weekly specials.
What we'll build
A new website with online ordering for pickup, product filters like the ones we built for Acme Outdoor, and an editor for your weekly specials. It includes two rounds of design revisions and a training session for your team.
Timeline
Kickoff the week of November 30, after your board meets on November 19 and our Thanksgiving closure. Launch by February 15, two weeks before your spring member drive on March 1.
Price
$24,000, fixed: about 160 hours at $150. Paid in three installments of $8,000, at signing, at design approval and at launch. Sign by December 31 to keep 2026 rates. Our rate goes to $165 on January 1.
Next steps
Take this to your board on November 19, and send me any questions before then. Rosa Delgado, Fernhill Creative
Notes for you, not in the draft
You promised Lena this by Monday. Hana is booked 38 of 32 hours next week, so Ben Osei and Chloe Park have more room for this one.
Write my reply to Gail at Bluebird
Reading 74 files
Here's a reply to Gail Moreno, in your name. It owns the first miss and explains the second with the printer's dates.
To: Gail Moreno
Gail, you're right. This is the second date we've missed, and the first one was on us: our final files went to the printer late.
Then the printer's press broke on October 13. All six boards ship October 16 instead.
I'd like to call you this week, like you asked. Rosa
Notes for you, not in the draft
Tom drafted an apology too; this one adds the printer's dates. Bluebird's retainer, $3,000 a month, is marked at risk in the pipeline.
Brief me for Monday's Juniper review
Reading 74 files
Here's a one-page brief for your 10 AM review with Tom on Monday, October 19.
What Owen wants
Owen Grant's board meets February 24, and he wants to show them the new site live. He asked for a landing page for each of five clinic services.
What v2 offers
$36,000 for a new website and five patient landing pages, inside his $35,000 to $40,000 budget. Launch by February 12. Work starts November 9 if they sign by October 30.
Watch out for
Hana is on the team, but she's booked 38 of 32 hours next week.
The deadline
Tom told Owen he'd have it October 20, so Monday is your last chance to change it.
What did we promise Acme, and did we deliver?
Reading 74 files
Three things: launch by October 9, two rounds of design revisions and a one-hour training session for Acme's team. The site went live October 8, a day early. Jen approved round 2 on September 25. The training hasn't happened. Jen asked about it on October 13, Tom asked Hana to run it, and there's no reply to Jen in the inbox.
Who's unhappy with us right now?
Reading 74 files
Gail Moreno at Bluebird Bakery. The menu boards missed a second date, and she'll pause the retainer after October unless you call her this week. Carla Reyes at Harbor Dental is disputing invoice #1037: they approved 18 hours, not 24. Jen Alvarez at Acme is also waiting on the training session we promised.
What's still waiting on me?
Reading 74 files
Four things. Call Gail Moreno at Bluebird this week, or she pauses the retainer. Tom drafted an apology for you. Decide whether to credit Harbor Dental the $900 they're disputing. Approve the Juniper proposal by October 19. Approve the client rates letter by October 23.
Who has time to run the Acme training?
Reading 74 files
Ben Osei. He's booked 20 of 40 hours next week, and he worked on the Acme launch. Tom asked Hana on October 14, but she's booked 38 hours against 32 available, and Tom is out Tuesday and Wednesday. Jen has been waiting since October 13.
Which clients owe us money?
Reading 74 files
Five open invoices, $29,050 in all. Only one is late: Kiln Coffee #1032, $2,250, due September 27, and Omar says he'll pay it Friday. Harbor Dental is disputing #1037 ($3,600) because they approved 18 hours, not 24. The rest aren't due yet: Northpoint #1038 ($4,200), Bluebird #1039 ($3,000) and Acme #1040 ($16,000).
What's on my calendar next week?
Reading 74 files
Monday, October 19 at 10 AM: the Juniper proposal review with Tom, the same day your OK is due. Thursday, October 22 at 4 PM: the leadership meeting. Friday, October 23: your 1:1s from 9 to noon, now on Fridays, and the rates letter needs your OK by 5 PM.
Why did we switch hosting vendors?
Reading 74 files
Brightline went down three times in August, once during Acme's staging review, and support took two days to answer. They were also raising the price from $640 to $900 a month on October 1. Tidewater quoted $520 a month for all 14 sites, so you decided to switch on the September 3 ops call. Leo finished the move on September 28.
Is Harbor Dental right about invoice #1037?
Reading 74 files
Partly. On the September 15 call, Sam estimated six extra hours for the booking widget and Dr. Amy Lin said "Sure, go ahead." But the MSA says extra work needs a written change order approved before work starts, and we never sent one. Carla is right that nothing went to them in writing.
What's in the sales pipeline?
Reading 74 files
Juniper Health is the big one: $36,000 for a website and 5 landing pages, going out October 20 once you OK it. Kiln Coffee's winter blend label is being scoped at about $1,200. Bluebird's retainer, $3,000 a month, is marked at risk until you call Gail.
What happened with Bluebird's menu boards?
Reading 74 files
They were already late at the October 7 check-in, because our final files went to the printer late. Tom promised all six boards by October 14. Then the printer's press broke, so they ship October 16. Gail says that's the second missed date and she'll pause the retainer after October unless you call her this week.
What are our new rates, and when do they start?
Reading 74 files
$165 an hour, up from $150, starting January 1, 2027. Retainers keep their current rate until they renew, and fixed-fee projects signed before January 1 keep 2026 pricing. Every client gets the new rates in writing by November 13.

v2 is drafted and waiting on your approval: $36,000 for a new website and five patient landing pages, launching by February 12. That's before Juniper's board meets February 24. Owen's budget is $35,000 to $40,000. Tom needs your OK by October 19 to send it on October 20, the date he gave Owen.

What do we do when a client asks for extra work?
Reading 74 files
Send a written change order and get it approved before the work starts. That's section 4 of the MSA, and Harbor Dental's SOW points to it. We skipped it on Harbor's booking widget, and now they're disputing the invoice.
How many revision rounds do our contracts include?
Reading 74 files
Two rounds for each design deliverable. Extra rounds are billed at the hourly rate. Acme's SOW has the same two rounds.

What's Bluebird Bakery's annual revenue?
Reading 74 files
That isn't in Fernhill's files. Nothing in the inbox, the calls or the drive mentions Bluebird's revenue, so I won't guess.
